The function of PVC edge banding strip
With the rise of modern European cabinetry, it's not uncommon to see cabinets
with glossy or colorful finishes. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) edging is made of
thermoplastic resin that is flexible and durable. Pigments and other materials
are added to create a seemingly endless selection of edging colours, textures
and wood grains. Once your laminate is selected, you're almost guaranteed to
find a match!
Edging is used as veneer, a thin layer of material used primarily to hide
exposed and unsightly edges of plywood and other materials such as MDF. This
decorative concealment helps provide a finished look by mimicking the look of
real wood edges.
One of the main edging materials that is well known and widely used is adhesive
prepared veneer, also known as "iron on". Plywood sides, furniture, cabinet
backs and countertops are some of the many applications for edging,
demonstrating its widespread use in the interior decoration and furniture
manufacturing industries.
