Tool Steel Round Bar Alloy Tool Steel Round Bar Application
1.Alloy Tool Steel Round Bar Alloy tool steel is a type of steel in which chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium and other alloying elements are added on the basis of carbon tool steel to improve hardenability, toughness, wear resistance and heat resistance. It is mainly used in the manufacture of measuring tools, cutting tools, impact- resistant tools, cold and hot molds and some special-purpose tools. Steel with alloying elements such as Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, W, Mo, and V added to carbon tool steel. The addition of Cr and Mn can improve the hardenability of tool steel, and other elements can be added selectively or at the same time according to requirements (the total amount of addition generally does not exceed 5%), that is, a series of alloy tool steels are formed.
2.Category of use The hardenability, hardenability, wear resistance and toughness of gold tool steel are higher than those of carbon tool steel, and can be roughly divided into three categories: steel for cutting tools, molds and measuring tools. Among them, steels with high carbon content (carbon mass fraction greater than 0.80%) are mostly used to manufacture cutting tools, measuring tools and cold work dies. The hardness of such steels after quenching is above HRC60 and has sufficient wear resistance; steels with moderate carbon content ( Carbon content of 0.35%~0.70%) is mostly used in the manufacture of hot work molds. The hardness of this type of steel after quenching is slightly lower, which is HRC50~55, but the toughness is good. The cutting tool produces strong wear and heat under working conditions, as well as vibration and a certain impact load. Steel for cutting tools should have high hardness, wear resistance, red hardness and good toughness. In order to ensure its high hardness and meet the needs of forming alloy carbides, the carbon content in steel is generally 0.80% to 1.45%. Chromium is the main alloying element of this type of steel, and its mass fraction is generally 0.50% to 1.70%. Some steels also contain tungsten to improve the performance of cutting metals. This type of tool steel contains alloying elements, so the hardenability is better than that of carbon tool steel, the deformation caused by heat treatment is small, and it has high hardness and wear resistance. Commonly used steels are chromium steel, silicon-chromium steel and chromium- tungsten-manganese steel. [Applications]: Mainly used to manufacture low-speed cutting tools (such as woodworking tools, fitter tools, drills, milling cutters, broaches, etc.) and measuring tools (such as calipers, micrometers, block gauges, templates, etc.). Measuring tool steel is required to have high hardness (62-65HRC), high wear resistance, sufficient strength and toughness, and high hot hardness (that is, the cutting tool can still maintain high hardness at high temperature); in order to ensure the accuracy of measurement, measuring tools are required. Cutting tool steel has good dimensional stability. [Chemical composition]: Measuring tool steel has high carbon content, wC=0.8%~ 1.50%, to ensure high hardness and wear resistance. The added alloying elements are Cr, Si, Mn, W, etc., to improve the hardenability, tempering resistance, hot hardness and wear resistance of steel. [Commonly used cutting tool steel]: 9SiCr is a widely used cutting tool steel, which is used to make various thin-edged low-speed cutting tools that require small deformation, such as die, tap, reamer, etc. [Commonly used measuring tool steel]: High-precision measuring tools (such as block gauges) can be made of measuring tool steel such as Cr2, CrWMn, etc., or bearing steel (such as GCr15); simple measuring tools (such as calipers, templates, rulers, gauges, etc.) are multi-purpose Carbon tool steel (such as T10A); for measuring tools that require precision and must prevent corrosion, stainless steel 3Cr13 and 9Cr18 are used. [Heat treatment]: The pre-heat treatment of measuring and cutting tool steel is spheroidizing annealing, and the final heat treatment is quenching and low- temperature tempering. After heat treatment, the hardness reaches 60-65HRC. High precision gauges can be cold treated after quenching to reduce the amount of retained austenite and thus increase their dimensional stability. In order to further improve dimensional stability, aging treatment can also be carried out after quenching and tempering. songshunmoldsteel41404340
