Sodium percarbonate
Chemical formula: 2Na₂CO₃·3H₂O₂
Appearance: white crystalline powder
Properties: strong oxidant, can release oxygen when exposed to moisture
Physical and chemical properties
Solubility: Under neutral and acidic conditions, the solubility of sodium
percarbonate is 1.0%~4.5%, soluble in water and alcohol, and highly water-
soluble.
Stability: The storage period is one month at room temperature, and the
effective oxygen decomposition rate is low (0.5%). At higher temperatures, such
as 40°C, the effective oxygen decomposition rate will increase to 3.5%. It
should be stored at a lower temperature as much as possible.
Alkaline: Sodium percarbonate has the dual properties of sodium carbonate and
hydrogen peroxide. It can be dissolved in 10 grams of water at 20°C, and the
3% sodium percarbonate aqueous solution is 10-11.
Application areas
Bleach and oxidant: used as a rinsing agent and reduction color developer in
the textile industry, and as a disinfectant, deodorant, milk preservative, etc.
Detergents and cleaning agents: used as detergents and cleaning agents in
chemical, papermaking, textile, dyeing and finishing, food, medicine, health
and other departments.
Fish pond management: can effectively increase dissolved oxygen in fish pond
management.
Detergent additives: usually used as additives for washing powder, with the
effect of aerobic bleaching.
Metallurgy, petroleum, chemical and other industries: also widely used in
metallurgical industry, petroleum products, food processing industry, dye
