What is Prilocaine powder?

Prilocaine is an amide local anesthetic. Its intensity and speed are
similar to lidocaine, but it lasts longer and has a weaker effect on
vasodilation. The toxicity is lower than that of lidoca. It is clinically
used for local anesthesia, especially for patients who are not allowed to
use epinephrine.


Application of Prilocaine powder

Prilocaine has better efficacy than procaine. The intensity and speed of
local anesthesia are similar to lidocaine, but the action time is longer,
the toxicity is less, and the metabolism is faster, and the accumulation is
less.It is suitable for epidural anesthesia, conduction anesthesia and
infiltration anesthesia.


Function of Prilocaine powder

[Pharmacology] The local anesthetic effect of its 3% solution is
equivalent to that of 2% lidocaine plus epinephrine,it has a slower onset,
about 6 to 7 minutes, and a maintenance time of about 1.5 to 2 hours. It
has strong mucosal penetration. Adrenaline slightly prolongs its action
time. PPB is 55%, T1/2 is about 1.5h. Metabolism in the liver, its
metabolite nitrosotoluidine can oxidize hemoglobin to form
methemoglobin. Can be transported to the fetus through the placenta.
