Heat Seal Tester ASTM F2029 Heat Seal Strength Testing Machine

A heat seal tester, such as the HST-01, is a critical tool designed for
laboratory use to assess the heat sealability of various materials, adhering to
the ASTM F2029 standard. Employing heat and pressure, heat sealers unite
thermoplastics to create seals on products, packaging, and other thermoplastic
materials. The ASTM F2029 standard outlines the practices for making laboratory
heat seals, ensuring the determination of heat sealability of flexible barrier
materials as measured by seal strength.

The Heat Seal Tester, built to meet ASTM F2029 standards, plays a pivotal role
in evaluating the heat sealability of surfaces, sealant layers in films,
laminates, polymers, and composites. By controlling time, temperature, and
pressure – the three key parameters of the sealing process – this compact
heat sealer accurately recreates sealing conditions to guarantee consistent and
reliable results.

In industries ranging from food packaging to pharmaceuticals, the strength of
seals in flexible packaging is paramount for both functional performance and

an anti-scald front cover, with tests being initiated manually or via a foot
switch.
7. **Customizable Seal Jaws**: Seal jaws are customizable in terms of
dimensions, shapes, and patterns to accommodate various testing requirements.
8. **Additional Functionalities**: An RS 232 COM Port and optional computer
software offer enhanced functionalities.

Test Process:
During testing, a sample is placed between two parallel heated sealing jaws
with flat surfaces. Once the required temperature reaches equilibrium, the
upper seal jaw, driven by a gas cylinder, exerts a specific pressure on the
sample for a predetermined time. Upon completion of the sealing time, the upper
sealing jaw returns to its original position, completing the heatsealability
testing process.

Heat Sealing Evaluation:
Following the sealing process, heat sealability can be further evaluated
through seal continuity analysis, typically measured by air-leak, dye
penetration, visual examination, microorganism penetration, or other
techniques.
