Fully refined Semi refined paraffin wax melting point 52/54/56/58/60/62
Paraffin wax
Paraffin wax, also known as crystalline wax, is through distillation after solvent refining, solvent dewaxing or by wax freezing crystallization, press dewaxing to make wax paste, and then by solvent deoil or sweat deoil, and supplement refined by flake or needle crystal. According to the different degree of refining, it can be divided into three kinds: full refined paraffin, semi-refined paraffin and crude paraffin. Each type of wax is divided into different varieties according to its melting point.
The melting point of paraffin wax is an important indicator for judging the brand name of paraffin wax. For example, the melting point of No. 50 paraffin wax should not be lower than 50°C. The melting point of paraffin is also important for practical applications. Hard wax with a melting point of not lower than 52°C is suitable for making candles. If you use paraffin wax with a melting point lower than 52°C to make candles, it will become soft and curved in hot weather and will stick to each other. However, for paraffin wax used to make matches, you only need to use paraffin wax with a low melting point because it is used for soaking. Matchstick, which makes the matchstick easy to burn.
1. The main composition of paraffin
Paraffin wax is mainly composed of normal (straight chain) alkanes above C15, and also contains a small amount of isoparaffins or cycloalkanes with long side chains.
2. The melting point of paraffin
The melting point of paraffin wax is a main indicator for judging the grade of paraffin wax. For example, the melting point of No. 58 paraffin wax should not be lower than 58°C and not higher than 60°C.
3. The stability of paraffin wax
Stability is divided into light stability and thermal stability.
Petroleum wax should have good thermal stability and light stability. Otherwise, if it is exposed to hot air or direct sunlight for a long time, the paraffin wax will gradually oxidize and deteriorate, the color will become darker, and even the odor will become stronger.
Fully refined and semi refined paraffin wax is used widely, mainly used as candles, board, plastics, rubber and other commodity(like waxed paper ,crayons, candles, carbon paper) of the component and packing materials, baking container with dressing, used for electrical components, insulation rubber aging resistance and increased flexibility, etc.
