Florfenicol Oral Powder 10% for Diseases of Pork Composition:
Each gram of powder contains:
Flurphenicol... 100 milligrams.
Excipients 1 g.
Description:
Flurfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria isolated from domestic animals. Flufenicol, a fluorinated derivative of chloramphenicol, acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosome level and has bacteriostatic effects.
Flufenicol does not carry the risk of inducing human aplastic anemia associated with the use of chloramphenicol and is active against some chloramphenicol resistant strains.
Indications:
In fattening pigs:
It is used to treat respiratory diseases of pigs caused by pasteurella multocide which is susceptible to death from fluorobenzene.
Opposite indications:
Do not use in boars used for breeding purposes.
Do not use if allergic to active substances or any excipients.
Side effects:
During treatment, there may be a reduction in food and water consumption and a temporary softening of stool or diarrhea. After termination of treatment, the treated animal recovers rapidly and completely. In pigs, the most commonly observed adverse reactions are diarrhea, erythema/edema around the anus and rectum, and rectal prolapse. These effects are temporary.
Dosage:
Oral:
Pigs , : 10 mg/kg bW/day (equivalent to 100 mg veterinary drug), mixed in part of daily ration for 5 consecutive days.
Poultry: 10 mg/kg body weight (BW) of fluorophenicol (equivalent to 100 mg of veterinary drug) per day, part of daily ration for 5 consecutive days.
Withdrawal period:
Meat and offal: 14 days
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place below 25 C and away from light.
