Acetylene, commonly known as wind coal or calcium carbide, is the smallest of
the alkynes and is a colorless, highly flammable gas at room temperature.
Acetylene for industrial use contains impurities such as hydrogen sulfide and
phosphine, and has a smell of garlic.
