AAK Hydraulic Valve Block Processing with Deep Holes and Large Holes

Torsten is from the Netherlands. As an old purchaser, he is very handy in the
hydraulic industry. Unexpectedly, he fell on a hydraulic valve block with 24
deep holes and large holes. In the second half of last year, his company
developed a large-scale hydraulic windlass for ships. The hydraulic valve block
used was sampled from a hydraulic valve block manufacturer in the Netherlands,
but the machine running test was not smooth. After the equipment has been

However, although the processing accuracy of the second sample was improved,
there was still leakage 1 month later. Now the equipment is waiting to be put
into production. Their engineers have push Torsten 3 times. He can only look
for new hydraulic valve block manufacturers. Torsten contacted more than 10
manufacturers and asked if they could process the hydraulic valve blocks with
24 deep holes and large holes. Only 2 manufacturers were willing to try, but

At first, I thought it was from a peer of hydraulic valve blocks, and ignored
it. It was not until Torsten sent three-dimensional and two-dimensional
drawings of the hydraulic valve block that I knew the difficulties he had
encountered. I told him that AAK had produced similar hydraulic valve blocks
with large holes and deep holes.

After 28 days, 5 hydraulic valve blocks were sent. 3 months later, Torsten sent
an order for 500 hydraulic valve blocks. He specially reminded that the
accuracy of the mass production must be the same as that of the samples. AAK is
the only manufacturer of hydraulic valve blocks whose samples passed the test.
AAK hydraulic valve blocks, for the processing of deep holes and large holes,
there are 3 details:

1. Before the hydraulic valve block is processed, the clamping stiffness of the
tool shall be verified to avoid the insufficient clamping stiffness of the
drill bit, which may cause the drill bit to deviate and cause the processing
hole to be slightly elliptical.

2. During the processing of the hydraulic valve blocks, a small drill bit
smaller than the processing size is used for pre drilling. The deeper the drill
bit is drilled, the easier it is to deviate from the predetermined axis,
resulting in the deviation of the center position of the processing hole. The
secondary processing of AAK can ensure that the drill bit does not deviate. At
the same time, the feed amount and speed setting of the tool are strictly
subdivided, so that the cutting chips can be timely excluded from the hole.
Most hydraulic valve block manufacturers suffer from this link. Cutting chips
are accumulated at the end, affecting the roughness of the valve hole and the
processing of the drill bit, leaving hidden dangers for later leakage.

3. After the hydraulic valve block is processed, the center position, roughness
and roundness of the processed hole shall be checked one by one.
