Laxogenin, also known as 5 α Hydroxy Laxogenin or 5a hydroxy Laxogenin is called a
plant steroid because it originates from Smilax Sieboldii, which contains
brassinosteroids. The underground stem of the Asian plant Smilax sieboldii contains
approximately 0.06% of laxogenin, which is its main natural source. Laxogenin is
also obtained from the bulbs of Chinese onion (Allium genus) and is a plant
compound, the most famous member of a group of compounds collectively known as
brassinosteroids, similar to cholesterol derived human sex hormones. Rapeseed
